Use these questions as a guide for reflection
- For this critique I first want you to discuss your painting. Use your own words to describe, analyze, interpret and judge your artwork. Add art vocabulary to make your critique better. There are no questions to guide you so you need to be as in depth as possible.
- Discuss how accomplished value, texture, layering, blending, contrast and realism. What is the most important aesthetic quality of your painting? If you are unsure what aesthetic means then look up the meaning and write it with your critique.
- Explain your creative process. Discuss how you used techniques learned in class to create a successful painting.
- Reflect your growth through the project. Being able to do so many layers and different value. Having the patience to do fur.

Self Evaluation
- Describe the craftsmanship of your painting. (Is it neat and well executed?) I wouldn’t say it’s as neat as I wanted it to be just I had a time limit so it was sort of rushed. I don’t like they way it turned out.
- Describe your choice of colors/color harmonies and how you used them throughout the artwork.
- How did you create contrast in your painting?
- How did you apply textures, highlights and shadows to enhance your artwork?
- How were you able to create depth in your painting?
- What painting techniques did you use that made your painting successful?
- Describe any difficulties you had creating your drawing and what you could do to improve your drawing?
- Explain the successes you had with this painting.
this is oil paint but using brushes
This is my first painting with oil I have ever done. I love the texture it gives the painting.
Hundertwasser (Acrylic)
-Craftsmanship of the painting
everything in the painting has sharp lines and is well executed. The painting took a month to finish and I would still like to add more things to it.
-Artist's style
My painting uses a lot of organic shapes with the use of dark and bright colors. The use of irregular forms in my building represent his style.

-colors/color harmonies
I chose the warm colors for the sun because the sun is hot and made of fire so I thought warm colors would compliment the sun. I chose cool colors for because I thought it would bring a happy medium between the warm colors of the sun and add a calm aspect to the painting. The house: I put an abstract aspect for it and chose black and white to go for it to single it out to have its own singular entity in the painting, and the hill is green because grass is green.
-focal point
The focal point of my painting is the sun. It took me the longest to finish because of all of the detail put into the face and rays.
-textures and patterns
I used a lot of reputation in my painting to create the same style as hunderwasser and give a nice effect.
-border
the border of my painting a simple but eye catching. with the use of irregular colors also used throughout the painting put together. black outline with a purple, yellow, and red triangles. the outer edge of the canvas has a different border on it, its a lot more simple but still eye catching using light green and pink rectangles with a black outline.
-problems
the only difficulties when making this painting was the background I had no idea what to do with it once I realized I had already painted the things in the foreground. The green paint was so thin that they layers didn't go on well and it took about 7 to make the paint nontransparent.
these are my progress photos. I will be post the sketches for this painting when I get to my sketch book on Monday, October 30th.
